Paid summer internships for software/mechatronics Engineering students, Hours qualify for professional engineering work experience, Two exciting projects; swarm UAV UI/UX interface and robotic carts.

SPS Automation is a small R&D robotics company based in Christchurch. We specialise in vision-based AI for drone/rover robotic applications in the agritech sector. We are looking for two student interns to join our engineering team for the summer 2021/2022 period.  These are paid employment positions and qualify for professional engineering work experience. These are fixed term positions of 400 hours.

We will be running two student projects this summer:

Swarm UAV UI/UX interface

SPS Automation seeks a software engineering/computer science student to create/improve upon the front-end UI/UX of a pre-existing application that's used to control, configure, and monitor multiple UAVs flying in swarm. The student will be required to: research themes, styles and software layouts suitable for our application, design and build a front-end interface, and work with engineers to connect it to our existing back-end software. Some of the tools students will get experience with are: Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Flask, PyQt and version control (Git). An eye for design will also be a great bonus.

Robotic Carts

SPS Automation is looking for a mechatronics engineering student to work directly alongside our engineers, assisting in the fabrication and construction of robotic carts. The role will be extremely practical and will include tasks like designing parts, operating 3D printers, assembling components from drawings and testing robots once completed. The student will be directly involved in the R&D engineering process.

SPS Automation has a strong team culture, and we are looking for students who fit our team, are enthusiastic and like working in a dynamic environment. These are fixed term (for 400 hours), Christchurch based, full time positions (Monday to Friday 8h/day) from approximately November 2021 ? February 2022.
